ENTERTAINMENT HOST. WRITER. ACTRESS. SOCIAL MEDIA CHICK. SPORTS NUT.
Can you name the clean-up hitting for the St. Louis Cardinals? It was that question that Jessica Radloff nailed to beat out hundreds of other college freshman for a chance to spend the summer working alongside NBC sports reporters in St. Louis and slugger Mark McGwire. Of course, it was also the same summer that Jessica dropped a table on Yogi Berra’s foot (thankfully he managed to laugh it off without lawyers being involved). That opportunity in the summer of ’98 started Jessica on a whirlwind career in the entertainment industry that is still unfolding; her klutziness notwithstanding.
Today, Jessica is 29 years old and has called Los Angeles home since graduating from the University of Arizona with a triple major in Journalism, Media Arts and Theater. During her years at the U of A (and following) she gained valuable media experience by working at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Young and the Restless, several NBC and ABC affiliates (both in a writing and production capacity), and Carsey-Werner-Mandabach (the creative team behind The Cosby Show, Roseanne and That 70s Show!).
Jessica’s love for all things media also led her to pursue life as an actress. Most recently, Jessica has played the role of “Marni” on Oxygen’s critically acclaimed comedy Campus Ladies, executive produced by Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Cheryl Hines. There she has had the good fortune of working with the likes of Jason Alexander, Sean Hayes, and David Steinberg. Jessica’s very first scene was chosen to highlight the show on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in February 2006, with Ellen calling it one of the most hilarious comedies she’s ever seen. Jessica trained at the Groundlings (which launched the careers of Lisa Kudrow, Jon Lovitz, and a handful of Saturday Night Live alums), but says, “the best improv teacher was my Mom, who taught me to think on my feet and strike up a conversation with anyone.”
Jessica was born in St. Louis, MO, a St. Louis Cardinals fan from the get-go. As mentioned, thanks to her internship at the NBC affiliate in St. Louis (KSDK NewsChannel 5), she was the only female allowed in the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse following all home games. That experience (aside from being a dream come true), gave Jessica an invaluable appreciation for journalism in both the print and broadcast fields. Working for The Tonight Show as well as Y&R exposed her to the entertainment industry (as well as jittery celebrities before show time!), and helped as she made the transition to LA.
But lo-and-behold, Jessica’s love of journalism has returned to the forefront in the last few years, starting with her book proposal on how MySpace changed the dating landscape. Although “When MySpace Invades Your Space” didn’t land a publisher, it did land Jessica a literary agent in New York City, as well as numerous other opportunities. Currently, Jessica is writing for AOL and The Huffington Post, Buzznet & Celebuzz as their celebrity relationship expert, and contributing to The Guardian. She recently interviewed Betty White, Susan Lucci, Paul Adelstein, Jillian Harris, Matthew Gray Gubler and Elisha Cuthbert. Betty White loved Jessica so much that she’s now adopting her. (Ok, not really, but it sounds good).
Jessica is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmys.org), Screen Actors Guild, and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, where she gets to vote and work alongside the very performers that inspired her to work in the industry. Recently, St. Louis Magazine named Jessica one of the Top Singles in St. Louis.
In her downtime, Jessica loves watching the St. Louis Cardinals, splurging on cupcakes, and giving away a fortune in free dating advice to her friends.
